Lake Moodemere

Above are photos of Lake Moodemere. The lake is ideal for rowing and every new year Rutherglen hosts the oldest rowing regatta in Australia. About 500 metres past this point are shelters and toilets.

 

Water Tower Wine Bottle

This building was completed in 1900 to serve as the town's water supply. A new reservoir was constructed in 1945. The mesh wine bottle top was erected in December 1969. This bottle can be seen for up to 20 kilometres.

 

Netherby Cellars

Located on the road between Rutherglen and Corowa. Settled by John Graham in 1859, where he planted a small vineyard, increasing to 550 acres. Cellars able to hold 200,000 gallons of wine. Home of the first steam plough imported into Victoria in 1861.

 

 

Vidal Cellars

Vidal's Cellar and Brandy Distillery was erected in 1897 as a distillery. It distilled 78,000 gallons of wine into brandy. The company ceased in 1925.
