The Great Alpine Road
The Great Alpine Road is now sealed between Bairnsdale and Wangaratta. It is an All Seasons road, however motorists should take care as the road can be effected by fog, ice and snow in any season.
Take care to observe the road conditions signs, both the speed signs and the chain fitting signs. Chains must be carried in the snow season between the Queen's Birthday Weekend in June, and the first weekend in October.
Chains may be hired from many outlets.
For road conditions phone the Mt Hotham road report on 0357 593 531.
