Department of Fair Trading Role of the Department of Fair Trading The Department of Fair Trading administers the laws which set out the rights and responsibilities of residents and residential park owners. The Department's role includes the following activities: Providing information about the laws. Handling complaints about possible breaches of legislation. Providing mediation to help resolve disputes. Administering the Residential Tribunal Registry. Conducting education campaigns. Producing educational resources. Reviewing and amending the legislation to ensure it remains relevant. Monitoring the market place to detect unfair practices. Processing and holding rental bonds.
