WALLA WALLA PIONEER
FESTIVAL
During the second week of November the town of Walla
Walla, which is located about 20 minutes north of Albury, puts on a Heritage Festival at
the local Football, Sporting Ground Complex. This is one of the town's tourist
attractions, which brings people from all surrounding areas.
BUTTERMAKING DEMONSTRATION
 Commencing to churn
the fresh cream in a specially made wooden box with wooden churners, dated around 1910. |
 The cream is starting
to turn lumpy after just over 1 minute of churning. |
 The lumps have joined
into a mixture of soft butter. Total mixing time less than 4 minutes. The thin butter milk
is left in the bottom. |

SHEEP SHEARING AND WOOL BAILING

Step one, shearing the sheep with hand shears. |
 Step two, throwing
the wool or fleece onto the sorting table. |
 Step three, filling
both the top wooden bailer and the bottom wooden bailer with wool. These bailers date back
to the 1890's.By swinging the top bail holder over the bottom bail holder, and releasing
the false bottom on the top bailer, a false top or monkey is placed on the top bailer, and
attached by thick wire cable to the pulley system. |
 The pulley system
is shown here being used to compress the top wool into the bottom bail by pulling
the roof of the top bailer right down into the bottom bailer. |

animal Nursery, Historical Displays, Damper Cooking, Food Stalls, Craft Market, Fashion
Parade.
