BIG TREE Features in the Cumberland Walk, Marysville, this Mountain Ash is the tallest living tree in Victoria. It once stood at 92 m ( 301 feet ) but was reduced to 84m ( 275 feet ), by a wind storm in 1959. The Big tree's girth is 5.2m, ( 17 feet ).
BIG CULVERT This beautiful moss covered granite arch was consrtucted by a German Settler George Koehler. It was built around 1880. It can be seen approximately 16 km from Marysville on the Woods Point Road.
BIRD WATCHING Bird Watching can be done in many forest areas surrounding Marysville. Ask at Info Centre. The birds of the rainforests include Pilot Bird, Lyrebird, Satin Bower Bird, Whipbird, Golden Whistler, Yellow Robin, Grey Fantail, Grey Shrike Thrush, Striated Thornbills, Spotted Pardalotes, Honeyeaters, Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos.

BUSH WALKS Fawcett Bushland Reserve Drive/ Walk, easy grade, 15.5 Kms return trip from Alexandra Chinaman's Ford Drive/ Walk, easy grade, 11 Kms return trip from Alexandra Acheron Road Walk. The Drive to Acheron is 10 Kms from Alexandra, and the walk is approximately 4 Kms. Brochures on these walks are available at the Alexandra Tourist Information Centre. Eildon Circular walk around the Upper Pondage, approx one and a half to two hours. Circular Walk around the Lower Pondage, approx one and a half hours. Mt Sugarloaf Walking Track, commence 2.7 km from Tourist Info Centre on the Boat Harbour Road, walk commences on clearing on right hand side 800 metres to summit of Mt Sugarloaf. Approx. 1 hour return. Walk across Eildon Dam Wall, from power station to the Dam Wall Lookout Then cross road and follow the track to Point Dethridge.
Walk from Marysville along the River to Steavensons Falls, approx 4 Km one way. Walk to top of Steavensons Falls Walk from Steavensons Falls to Kepples Lookout, approx 4 Km Walk from Lady Talbot Drive to Phantom Falls, approx 400 metres one way. Walk from Lady Talbot Drive to Kepples Falls, approx 1km one way. The Beeches walking tracks. Drive along Lady Talbot Drive approx 13 Km, the Beeches circular walk will take about 15 minutes, whilst the Beeches Rainforest walk of approximately 4 Km will take 2 to 3 hours. Cumberland Walk, There is a 4Km circular walk which takes in over 8 tourist attractions, or by driving and selecting the attractions you wish, there are numerous short walks. FISHING Lake Eildon and the Pondage. Open all year for trout fishing. The main species are rainbow and brown trout, golden perch (yellow belly), Murray Cod and English Perch (redfin). Rubicon River. The areas around the junction of the Rubicon River and the Goulburn River are the most popular. Acheron River. This is a nursery river, as good as any that flows into the Goulburn and has a good number of small energenic trout. The lower levels of the river are more suited to bait fishing. Steavenson River. A fast flowing, shallow gravel bottom river which flows from Marysville to Buxton mostly parallel to the main road. This is ideal for fly and small lures. J T's Bait & Tackle. Over twenty gardens are open to the public on both days, with refreshments at selected gardens. The Alexandra district is known for its ever changing climate, the cold, frosty and foggy winters, to the dry hot months of summer. During the Open Gardens Weekend, this region for all seasons offers visitors something very special, a unique mix of farm and town gardens, some planted more than a century ago, others in more recent times. These unique and precious gardens will be at their most spectacular, with drifts of white Milkmaids, yellow Bulbine Lilies, the purple of twining Sarsaparilla, the pink of black eyed Susan and sun Orchids in exquisite shades of blue and salmon. Alexandra has its delightful McKenzie Flora Reserve and the nearby Bushland Reserve for a view over the township. Also right on the Goulburn River is the Molesworth Flaura and Fauna Reserve. A green belt of parks flows through the township of Alexandra along the banks of the Ultima Thule Creek. The shire gardens in Perkins Street are beautiful all the year round. LYREBIRDS These talented birds have become the symbol of the region and can be seen in the Rainforests near Steavensons Falls and Kepples Falls. Often easier to find during or after rain.
