Above in the parlour is this magnificent walnut veneer upright piano which was once owned by Hamilton Hume, the Explorer. Above left is a close up of the unusual wall cavity three dimensional frame.

THE BEDCHAMBER

Above is a typical bedroom scene with the iron and brass bedsteads of the 1870's and 80's. Above right is the typical washing bowl and utensils of the period.

THE KITCHEN

Jind34.JPG (15683 bytes)

The kitchen is set out as in 1890's and is of course centred around the wood stove, with its heavy black pots and kettles.

THE LAUNDRY

The laundry must have been the busiest room in the house. Above you can see some of the items in this laundry, above left the cane washing or clothes baskets, the wooden mangle or clothes wringer, and the scrubbing boards, above centre the wooden washing trough, and above right, the wood heated copper, complete with sticks to submerge the sheets.

There are other rooms in this house, including the cellar and the attic, and the huge vestibule. When you come to visit, ask about the many fascinating items within the residence, as it is very easy to overlook a few.
